Cessna 172 ready for CFI to teach in

CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR

Build flight hours while teaching others! As an instructor, you can accumulate the required 1,500 flight hours* to become an airline pilot–all while getting paid to teach others how to fly.

CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR (CFI)

“A Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Rating is required for a pilot to instruct other pilots. This is a great opportunity to gain flight hours. Flight instructing is a wonderful way to get started in the aviation industry. You can build up your own experience and credentials while sharing your passion for flying with other aspiring pilots. Hillsboro Aero Academy’s Certified Flight Instructor training will give you all the tools you need to become a qualified instructor. In this flight instructor course, you’ll learn how to administer ground training and flight training, so you can provide well-rounded instruction for students. In addition to the necessary technical skills, you’ll also gain a better understanding of how to instruct and inspire pilots-in-training. It’s this combination of distinct skill sets that creates effective teachers.

INSTRUMENT INSTRUCTOR (CFII)

The CFII course is designed to add an additional rating to your existing Flight Instructor Certificate.  It can also be used to gain an Initial Flight Instructor Certificate, but another 3 days must be added to the program to do that. Most people will already have their Flight Instructor Airplane Single Engine certificate so the course here reflects that. CFII or Certified Flight Instructor Instrument allows you to teach instrument rating applicants; both on ground (aeronautical knowledge) and in flight training. If your career goals are to be an airline or corporate aviation pilot getting your CFII add-on rating to your existing CFI certificate is another way to renew or reinstate your CFI certificate for another 24 months.

MULTI-ENGINE INSTRUCTOR (MEI)

The Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) Course allows you to gain the experience and training necessary to instruct private and commercial pilots in a multi-engine airplane. This course teaches specialized skills and is a great way to improve your knowledge as an instructor. During this course, you will build upon the skills learned during your multi-engine training and combine those skills with the instructional techniques necessary to safely teach the next generation of multi-engine pilots. The Piper Seminole is a complex and therefore challenging aircraft, which demands the highest level of instructional proficiency. The Multi-Engine Instructor course focuses on specific issues related to multi-engine flying, including practicing single-engine approaches and landings, aerodynamics, and emergency procedures. Instructors will learn how to efficiently use the simulator to deliver the training in a safe and proficient manner.
